
Greek islands are actually composed of over 6,000 islands of various sizes, but only about 220 are inhabited and only 80 of them have more than 100 people. Nearly 10 percent of the population over 10 million lives in the islands. The largest of the Greek islands, Crete is located in the Mediterranean, south of the Aegean Sea.
